Cobblestones and baroque palaces

Varaždin has been the site of a Roman encampment, a medieval fortress and a thriving Renaissance village of artists and commerce.  However,  it is best known as Croatia's best preserved and most beautiful baroque town.  In the mid 1700s, Varaždin was designated  the capital of Croatia and became the center of fashionable society.  Ornate palaces and elaborately decorated churches were built, reflecting the wealth and power of the Austro- Hungarian empire.

Whether you are enjoying an adventure holiday in Croatia or leisure holiday, make sure you take a day to wander through these cobbled streets.  Better yet, take a personal guided Mintys Choice tour.
